Rapper DaBaby has responded after he was criticised for making seemingly homophobic comments at a Miami gig.
Videos on social media show him telling the crowd: "If you didn't show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that'll make you die in two or three weeks, put your cellphone pale up."
He also targeted homosexual men in references to other sexual activities, asking those who did not take part in them to "put your cellphone light up".
DaBaby's words at the Rolling Loud Miami festival were condemned by social media users as homophobic, but the rapper, real name Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, appeared to double-down in a lengthy Instagram response.
He said across 19 videos: "What I execute at a live demonstrate is for the audience at the live show.
"It'll never translate correctly to somebody looking at a little five, six-second clip from their goddamn crib on their phone. It just don't work favor that.

Rolling Loud Miami 2021’s final morning on July 25 was packed with highly anticipated performances from Megan Thee Stallion, Post Malone, and many others, but it was DaBaby‘s set that immediately dominated headlines and for days after.
DaBaby, who took the Ciroc Stage right after Meg, surprised attendees by bringing out Tory Lanez. The year prior, the “Savage” singer had accused Lanez of shooting her in the foot. But the “Rockstar” rapper didn’t stop there, and what came next fueled criticism: In clips from the livestreamed production, DaBaby made homophobic and misogynistic comments.

Dua Lipa 'horrified' at DaBaby's HIV and gay comments
Dua Lipa says she's "surprised and horrified" at DaBaby's comments about people with HIV and same-sex attracted men.
The singer wrote on her Instagram story that she didn't "recognise this as the person I worked with" and stood "100% with the LGBTQ community".
