Loving Truth and Truly Loving: Mapping the Problems and Possibilities in the Latter-day Saint LGBTQ+ Conversation
Evolution of Marriage
All analogies have their limits, but I accept that changes relative to teachings around plural marriage, and more specifically, the nature of Joseph Smith’s Nauvoo teachings on marriage and the evolving cultural backdrop for those teachings, might actually be the leading analog to comprehending the current cultural moment we are in relative to LGBTQ issues, though probably not for the reasons many would think.
Latter-day Saint doctrine has a high—and I would even suggest unsentimental—view of marriage. What we have called Eternal Marriage is, in actuality, an order of the Priesthood (D&C 131:2). A panoptic covenant built on preceding covenants of death and rebirth in Christ, priesthood, sacrifice, consecration, obedience, chastity, and with Abrahamic promises and stewardships regarding eternal lives and a extension of the seeds forever and ever. I actually consider that we can’t truly comprehend the doctrine of marriage if we act not comprehend the doctrine of consecration.

Two Congregations Force LGBT Debate on Evangelical Covenant Church
UPDATE (July 5): The Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) has removed Awaken Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, over “policies and practices that are inconsistent with the denomination’s human sexuality guidelines.”
Delegates to the ECC annual gathering voted the church out on June 30. Awaken—which allows for lgbtq+ marriage and the occupied participation of LGBT members in church life—is the second church in the ECC’s history to be removed involuntarily.
Weeks before the meeting, Quest Church, in Seattle, decided to voluntarily remove itself from the ECC over LGBT inclusion rather than face a vote at the encounter. In its letter announcing its withdrawal, Quest’s pastor Gail Song Bantum said ECC “has become a space that prioritizes doctrinal uniformity on a remarkable issue over relational oneness in areas that are non-essentials of faith.”
Sorry, something went wrong. Please endeavor again.
“We are always grieved when fellowship is broken,” said Tim Rodgers, chair of the Covenant Executive Board, after the vote on Awaken Church’s removal. “We pray
Same-Sex Attraction

Sexual purity is an necessary part of God’s arrange for our happiness. Sexual relations are reserved for a man and gal who are married and promise complete loyalty to each other. Abstract: Our youth are experiencing a profound hunger for connection, evidenced by an epidemic of loneliness and increasing mental health challenges despite the seeming connectivity of a world swimming in social media. The deepest loneliness stems from disruption and disorder in family being, including ruptured or never formed family relationships. In answer to this relational fracturing, the gospel of Jesus Christ offers covenant belonging and connection. The revealed understanding of the nature of our covenant relationship with Jesus Christ and his work in enabling eternal bonds wi
