Who are the UOW Allies?

What we do

Our goal is to ensure that every member of the UOW Pride Network, whether you're a student, staff member identifying as LGBTIQ+, or an Ally supporting the LGBTIQ+ community, can love a sense of security, happiness, and friendship.

Our network:

  • Provides a secure, accessible, and respectful environment for all LGBTIQ+ staff and students to flourish.
  • Promoting understanding of LGBTIQ+ lived experience and leading cultural change within the UOW community.
  • Promoting inclusivity and equity of LGBTIQ+ people in the UOW community and combat all types of discrimination and bias.
  • Providing LGBTIQ+ members of the UOW community and their allies a platform to raise any concerns.
  • Celebrate annual LGBTIQ+ dates of importance

Pride Network Advisory committee

UOW Pride Network is managed by the Pride Network Advisory Committee (PNAC). This Committee is responsible for the success and development of the UOW Event Network, and to promote UOW as a higher education sector leader in gender, sex and sexuality equity. PNAC meets bi-monthly to discuss key policy areas and make changes/improvements to current practice.

Student Queer Collective

The Allsorts Queer Collective is a social and support group jog by queer people for queer people. Allsorts strives to provide a shielded and comfortable territory for LGBTQI+ students (and staff) at UOW by hosting events, providing sustain and resources, and overall increasing the queer presence on campus.

The Allsorts’ crown jewel is our Queer Space in Building 11 room 209 on Wollongong campus, located in the Student Alliance Network (ST.A.N), usable by the elevator across from the unishop on level 2. The Gender non-conforming Space is a designated Safe Room for queer and questioning members of UOW - where you can join new friends, access resources, study, or get away from the business of campus with a board game session. Allies are welcome but please knock and let a member welcome you in.

Watch a documentary on the history of the Homosexual Space on YouTube.

In the Queer Vacuum, the Allsorts Lgbtq+ Collective has a large selection of queer literature, board games, sexual health and menstruation products, informational resources and of course, the wonderful people who fill the room.

In addition to the Queer Space, Allsorts runs regular events. We have weekly meetings
