Marlon bundo gay book

"Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver spoofed Vice President Mike Pence's children's publication "Marlon Bundo's A Day in the Life of the Vice President" about the Pence family's pet rabbit.

The original Bundo publication was penned by Pence's daughter Charlotte Pence and illustrated by second lady Karen Pence. Bundo will be touring the country (it's not clear which Pence will be taking him on tour), with a stop at the Focus on the Family, a conservative religious organization that had a queer conversion therapy program until 2009. It was the Highlight on the Family tour stop that raised Oliver's hackles, and inspired him to create his own book — "A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo" — in response.

"So congratulations, Pence, you even managed to spoil Marlon Bundo," Oliver said. "Now, none of us can enjoy a novel about your rabbit—or can we?"

Oliver took some literary liberties with his version of Bundo's life: the tardy night host made the protagonist bunny gay, jabbing at Pence's social conservatism, which has deposit him at odds with the LGBTQ community.

"Now, there are a rare small differences between the two books. You'll notice right away that our rabbit has a

"My mention is Marlon, but my family calls me BOTUS. It's short for Bunny of the United States."

These are the words of Marlon Bundo, a pet rabbit belonging to Vice-President Mike Pence - or at least, these are his words according to a children's book presented by Last Week Tonight presenter John Oliver in a bid to rival Pence's own book about the bunny.

Within 24 hours of release, Oliver's book, penned by Last Week Tonight writer Jill Twiss, has topped the best-selling books list on Amazon.

The original book, Marlon Bundo's A Day in the Life of the Vice President, was written by Mr Pence's daughter Charlotte and illustrated by his wife Karen. It tells the story of the VP through the eyes of his family's rabbit.

Oliver's rival book, A Day In The Experience of Marlon Bundo, illustrated by E.G. Keller, tells the story of the same pet as he falls in love with and marries another male rabbit - taking aim at Pence's history with LGBT rights.

John Oliver trolls Mike Pence with a book about a gay rabbit

John Oliver's attempt to troll Vice President Mike Pence was as successful as he could have hoped.

Less than 24 hours after the "Last Week Tonight" host announced that he'd published a children's book about Pence's pet rabbit, Marlon Bundo, to compete with one issued by the politician's family, the parody tome “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Presents a Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo" soared to the foremost of Amazon's sales list.

Meanwhile, “Marlon Bundo’s Day in the Life of the Vice President," a guide written by Pence's daughter Charlotte and illustrated by his wife Karen, had reached No. 5 on the sales chart as of Monday evening.

"There are a few small differences between the two books," Oliver told "Last Week Tonight" viewers on Sunday night. "Our story is about Marlon Bundo falling in love with another boy rabbit because our Marlon Bundo is gay."

On Sunday night's show, Oliver delved into Pence's fraught relationship with the LGBTQ community. Pence has been an outspoken critic of gay marriage, opposed the rep
