The Story of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla – Wedamor
The designer duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla recently completed 33 successful years together in 2019. They possess been Bollywood’s favorite planner duo. From designing their costumes to designing for their wedding, this creator duo has been doing it for the last three decades.
Their story so far has been no less than a roller coaster ride. They recently gave a glimpse of their story when they gave an interview to Humans of Bombay. Let’s have a look at their story in detail.
The Beginning
It all began thirty-three years ago! On 15th August 1986, Abu Jani met Sandeep Khosla and since then, the two have embarked on an extravagant creative journey together. Even though they reach from dissimilar backgrounds, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla were united by a shared commitment to impossibly fine craftsmanship, a reverence for heritage textiles and embroideries and a desire to do what hasn’t been done before. Since then, they have position trends, created their retain set of rules, and crafted the utterly imaginative from the staggering depth of their collective imagination.

The Indian Penal Court only recently legalized the LGBTQ rights. Until then, people from this community were forced to mask their true identities. Often, they had to even cover-up their identities in the public. This hiding and covering-up, induced a lot of anxiety among the community members. Blinded by their adore for the aesthetically pleasing and each other, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla let us into their private cosmos like they’ve never done before!
“We favor to do things in a lavish yet elegant style. That’s just how our style is – a celebration of life,” murmurs Abu Jani. He and his being and business significant other, the buoyant Sandeep Khosla, are now in their 32nd year of business – and like – together.
Lavish yet elegant is an understatement; we are sprawled in the duo’s apartment in Juhu in Mumbai – the apartment is a jewel-box of curiosities. Silver bibelots, a wall of sculptural heads in metal, some very pleasant art (including a sublime early Manjit Bawa, much before the cows came home), sofas meant for deep lounging, brobdingnagian bouquets of flowers towering in vases.
