LGBT voters, a larger share of the electorate than ever, shift away from Trump
Former President Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris to become the next U.S. president, NBC News projected, but he didn’t do so with the help of lesbian, gay, double attraction and transgender voters.
LGBT voters shifted even more solidly into the Democratic camp this year, according to the NBC News Exit Poll. Harris led President-elect Trump 86% to 12% among LGBT voters, the poll found. That’s a 15-point change from 2020, when Trump won 27% of the LGBT vote against Biden.
Harris’ performance among LGBT voters was stronger than that of any Democratic candidate in the last five presidential elections.
Although Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance predicted that he and Trump would win the “normal gay guy vote,” the GOP presidential ticket captured fewer than 1 in 5 LGBT male voters, though that figure could also include pansexual and transgender men. Trump’s support among LGBT female voters was even more tepid, at 8%. White LGBT people went solidly for Harris over Trump by 82% to 16%, though Harris’ margin was even bigger among LGBT voters of paint at 91% to 5%.

What could Trump undertake while in office? The Project 2025 policy manifesto provides some clues.
A layout for discrimination
Written by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, Project 2025 is a playbook for the next conservative president.
It contains input from more than 110 groups on key policy and personnel recommendations. The intention is to act quickly. It features a 180-day behavior plan that “includes a comprehensive, concrete transition design for each federal agency”.
Trump sought to distance himself from the manifesto during the campaign. However, many of the contributors played roles in Trump’s first term in office. This includes Stephen Miller, who is expected to be named deputy principal of staff for policy in his second word. Miller’s group, America First Legal, has backed Plan 2025.

Some LGBTQ people race to claim rights, fearing rollbacks under Trump
LOS ANGELES — In the week after Donald Trump won the U.S. presidential election, Isla Lima submitted paperwork to transform her gender from male to female in official documents, as some LGBTQ people worry their rights could be cut back.
Trump, who won the Nov. 5 vote and will be inaugurated on Monday, has stated his intention to rescind some LGBTQ rights during his second term in office.

Trump wants the law to recognize a person’s gender only at birth, as male or female. As for gender diverse athletes, he has told supporters that he will “keep men out of women’s sports.”
While the Biden administration advanced or protected LGBTQ rights at the federal level, several Republican-run states have curtailed access to gender-affirming care.
Many gender diverse people say their gender dysphoria began at an early age. The perception of discrepancy between their gender identity and
