Jonathan Bailey is on a career roll. Fresh off of his role as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton in the clap Netflix series Bridgerton, the out actor will next appear on the West End stage in the new production of Cock.

Bailey most recently appeared as a guest judge in RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World.

Bailey appears opposite Taron Egerton, in the revival of Mike Bartlett’s play, which will take to the stage at London’s Ambassador Theatre starting March 5. TimeOut is calling the revival “One of the must-see shows this year.”

Taron Egerton, who played Sir Elton John in the biopic Rocketman, has shared his stance on whether straight actors should play gay characters. 

The Welsh actor, 33, who has also starred in Kingsman, played the openly gay music sensation in the 2019 film and won a Golden Globe for his performance.

He has now revealed his perspective on the controversial topic of straight actors playing gay characters, saying that he doesn't think there should be a 'blanket rule'. 

He told Far Out Magazine: 'I grew up in a very liberal town and a couple of my close friends are gay.

The debate continues over whether it's appropriate for straight actors to play same-sex attracted roles in movies and TV shows, as this is something that has resulted in online criticism in recent years. Perhaps that's a sign of how quickly things can start to change in Hollywood, as it wasn't so long ago when Taron Egerton won a Golden Globe Award for doing just that. The actor played openly gay singer Elton John in the acclaimed biopic Rocketman, released by Dexter Fletcher in 2019. In addition to earning great profits at the box office, the movie had also drawn a lot of praise for Egerton in particular with the reviews from critics.

The 33-year-old Welsh performer started by expressing his empathy with the Gay community, stating:
