Gay Movies with ACTUAL Happy Endings
by xrabid_yaoi_fangirlx • Created 7 years ago • Modified 4 months ago
I've noticed a lot of lists on here for gay movies with happy endings always include films that DON'T have gleeful endings, just because no one dies. If these were straight romances that ended in breakups, no one would call them cheerful endings.
So this list includes only films that have a genuinely happy finding. That means at the end of the movie: the main couple is still together or on their way to being together, there are no deaths between the main couple, there is no impending death (like the person has late-stage AIDS), and there is actual desire for the future.
ONLY INCLUDING gay (M/M) movies, specifically because they're so likely to have downcast endings. I'm not including TV shows, which usually own happy endings (thankfully!) or movies that are inspired by TV shows, because you typically can't watch them without seeing the performance. Movies that got shows later are obviously still included.
Pride Month Viewing: 20 Buzzy LGBTQ Movies Of 2025
With another Pride Month underway, LGBTQ rights and visibility in media have never been more important.
Following the Trump administration’s attacks on DEI and recent aim to cancel Pride Month, GLAAD is preparing to release its 13th annual Studio Responsibility Index on June 11, showing the lowest percentage of LGBTQ-inclusive films in the past three editions of the report. The study tracks scripted films released in 2024 from ten uppermost film distributors.
Although those numbers are bleak, LGBTQ stories continue finding a way to the big screen and streamers alike, with titles from Andrew Ahn, Bill Condon and Ethan Coen, navigating topics of same-sex marriage, police profiling, sex work and anti-trans legislation.
From groundbreaking documentaries to kink-driven romance and intergenerational stories of family and community, these are some of the buzziest recent and upcoming LGBTQ releases of 2025.

Gay Movies with Content Endings: Adorable Characters, Lovable Stories, and a HAPPILY EVER AFTER

Trying to find a feel-good "gay" film to watch is like playing a game of Russian Roulette with your soul, and I think that's shitty: There's a difference between a "gay drama", an "important gay movie", a "gay romance", and a "gay rom-com"... and I'm here to celebrate the latter two!
Every film in this list is, SPOILER Aware, guaranteed to finish happily, with the two leads living happily-ever-after.
I like love affair movies, and I'm not apologizing for it! Because sometimes it's important to know, when you decide to see a movie, that the lovable couple you're giddy for isn't going to be shattered by horrible death or separated forever in lonely despair by the time the credits roll.
Alas, in gay cinema, our most-mainstream movie ends with our protagonist sniffing the jacket of a bloke who was tire-ironed to death on the side of a freeway; our most critically-lauded flick ends with our star-crossed lovers hurtling themselves to their
As queer people, we barely ever get to observe positive representations of the LGBTQIA+ community in mainstream media. Our stories are either met with tragic endings or turn out to be utterly depressing. Growing up, whatever pieces of queer cinema I could find were rooted in heartbreak and misfortune. While these stories are very much a existence for most people, it is incredibly important, especially for the younger generation, to experience stories that do not always terminate in tragedy. Knowing that there is a possibility of a happier existence by accepting your sexuality is something we require more of.
Therefore, here's a list of queer movies that, for a convert , have happy endings!
