After many seasons of fans hoping for a "Buddie" romance, 9-1-1 is finally exploring that side of Buck and Eddie's bond, and while season 8 has addressed Buck's feelings, Eddie remains clueless after episode 13. The ABC procedural drama series has featured many romances and friendships throughout its eight seasons. However, Buck and Eddie's dynamic is the one that has piqued the most interest out of the audience. When Eddie was introduced in season 2, he and Buck quickly formed a close bond. Since then, their connection has only grown. Now, they might take the next step in their relationship.
New episodes of 9-1-1 season 8 air on Thursdays at 8 pm ET on ABC, followed by recent episodes of Doctor Odyssey season 1 at 9 pm ET and Grey's Anatomy season 21 at 10 pm ET.
Unfortunately, Buck and Eddie's romance likely won't happen in 9-1-1 season 8, given their circumstances as of episode 13, "Invisible." Eddie moved back to Texas during the two-part mid-season premiere to reconnect with his son,

Editor's Note: The obeying article contains spoilers for Season 8, Episode 9 of 9-1-1.If you had told me a rare seasons of 9-1-1ago that Buck (Oliver Stark) was going to sell his loft in order to move into Eddie's (Ryan Guzman) house, I would have assumed you were talking about a labor of fanfiction, and then I would've asked you to send me the link. And yet, somehow, here we are in the second half of Season 8, and the prospect of this fan-favorite pairing becoming a actual world has never been more in reach. Buck is out as bisexual, Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) is out of the picture, and Buck and Eddie seem to finally be on the path towards figuring out their feelings for each other.
Christopher (Gavin McHugh) staying in Texas out of anger towards Eddie has been my least favorite storyline this season, but, one way or another, it's going to be resolved soon. Eddie's not just looking at houses and considering a move to Texas, as we learned in the midseason finale. Nope, he has jumped the gun (likely without even tal
Why 9-1-1's historic decision to make Buck queer was seven years in the making
For seven seasons,9-1-1 fans have been calling on the showrunners to form the queer-coded character Evan 'Buck' Buckley explicitly queer – and to my huge surprise, it's finally happened.
Season seven episode four, 'Buck, Bothered and Bewildered', saw the character grow jealous over Eddie Diaz's new friendship with Tommy Kinard, only for Buck to realize by the end that it was never Eddie's friendship he was worried about but rather Tommy's attention, and the pair kissed.
Fans have fallen in love with the traits of Buck (played by Oliver Stark) over the past seven years, acknowledging his tender heart and willingness to jump without thinking for those he loves. Many have also argued that the nature has long been queer-coded – when a character's sexual orientation is implied by significant subtext without being stated outright – using canonical moments from across the seven seasons in their arguments.
Think back to the early seasons, and how Eddie Diaz's introduction to the 118 came from Buck's point

Editor's Note: The accompanying contains spoilers for the Season 8 finale of 9-1-1.When a long-running exhibit is planning to grab that next step for a slow burn pairing, there are usually signs in the seasons building up to it, and 9-1-1has certainly given all those signs for Buddie. There was Buck's (Oliver Stark) realization that he is bisexual, Tommy's (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) jealousy over Buck and Eddie's (Ryan Guzman) connection, and Buck's accidental Freudian slip where he inadvertently admitted to his feelings for Eddie while denying them. If 9-1-1 were following the structure of a standard procedural, this would acquire been building up to a feelings realization for each party in the Season 8 finale, then they would officially earn together by the termination of Season 9. This is just another storyline that has been derailed by Bobby's (Peter Krause) death.
Here we are now after the conclusion of 9-1-1's eighth season, and a massive emergency took up the season finale, meaning any next steps for Buddie had to, once again, get pushed back a

For seven seasons, one vocal and large corner of the 9-1-1 fanbase has been calling for Buck and Eddie to shift their friendship into a romance, but season 8, episode 6 seemingly cover down that plea. Ever since Eddie joined the cast of 9-1-1 in season 2, many viewers have picked up on the chemistry between him and Buck. The two characters rapidly became best friends and undoubtedly hold one of the strongest relationships in the series. However, both were seemingly straight as they only dated women, until Buck came out as bisexual person in 9-1-1 season 7.
New episodes of 9-1-1 season 8 air on Thursdays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
Buck's storyline in 9-1-1 season 7 gave "Buddie" shippers hope that one sunlight Buck and Eddie would become a couple. The concept of them taking their friendship to the next level was seemingly plausible. Buck started matchmaking app Lou Ferrigno Jr.'s Tommy, but that certainly didn't seal Buck and Eddie's fate. Unfortunately, one episode in 9-1-1 season 8 might have.
