Earlier this week, the Trump administration rolled back an Obama-era policy that protected LGBTQ+ patients from discrimination. In case the decision wasn’t already cruel enough, the move came on the fourth anniversary of the massacre of a nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida, that killed 49 people. I suspect Trump had no concept of the significance of the rendezvous until he later saw it discussed on Fox News. But the people within his administrtion pulling his strings absolutely do understand the significance, but that doesn’t build the situation any less outrageous.
The pandemic has left me unplugged from my normal routines. It has also cancelled Pride Month activities across the planet, and this is a community that understands better than any other about the consequences of a pandemic. By 1989 there were an estimated 100,000 AIDS cases in the United States. The World Health Organization estimated there were as many as 400,000 cases worldwide.
At least four actors appearing on Dark Shadowsdied from AIDS related illnesses.
A 2019 post on The CHS Facebook page has change into a place for heated discussion this week, leading me to believe this is a challenge people want to

“Surely you have something more…substantial for me to feast upon? It is Chris-TT-Mass, after all.”
Our first double dip reveals an unexpected strength and deepened appreciation for Dark Shadows: The Christmas Presence! My third time at-bat overall for Audi-O-Rama; an exploration and analysis of Dark Shadows(and others!) at Big Finalize Productions. In the interest of full disclosure, o readers, despite my excitement in the opening of this column, I was slightly worried about “re-covering” some of these for the CHS. Thoughts like “will people want to learn about them again?” and “Should I just travel into the House by the Sea and change into a crab-man?” rattled through my head.
But much of that noise was blasted away once I finally sat down again with The Christmas Presence. As I found it a wholly delightful, well in-character single serial that is only improved with my as-chronologi
Taped on this date in 1970: Episode 1124

Can Barnabas evade the son of the human he murdered before Judah Zachery claims another life? Lamar Trask: Jerry Lacy. (Repeat; 30 min.)
Armed with a letter disclosing the potential true identity of Barnabas Collins, Lamar visits Collinwood to force the brash Englishman’s hand. Meanwhile, at Rose Cottage, a man once possessed by the head of Judah Zachery confronts a haunted Desmond, dying in the process.
Maybe today isn’t the Dark Shadows Daybook. It might be the Trask House Daybook. Because I think we’ve stumbled into another series.
What a remarkable episode that charges out of the gate, giving us, just in the opening narration, an absolute banquet of intrigue, occult weirdness, and reasons to keep watching. The episode absolutely delivers, with actors like John Karlen and Nancy Barrett still discovery new colors in their performances and a script that has genuine intrigue and dread. If you’ve seen the rest of the series, parts of it may feel familiar. And? Bolero quickly familiarizes us with itself, and that’s the point. It’s a burgeoning experience that intentionally maintains a simplicity

It can be very firm to talk about the queerness of Dark Shadows, especially that of the actors involved. It was a alternative era, full of fear, and limited rights. So many went to their grave without saying anything about their personal truth because of the culture they were raised and grew up in, it was even scarier coming out then compared to now. Even still now, it’s not great, we’ve still got a long way to go for human rights. It’s key that people understand that Dark Shadowsis a part of LGBTQIA+history. By not acknowledging that, it’s as good as erasing the actors who brought many wonderful and not so wonderful characters to life. If you don’t obey to the previous lessons that history has taught, you’re doomed to reiterate it. No one should live in fear of their career being destroyed, or be ostracised just because of how they’ve been born.
I’ve been in the Dark Shadowsfandom for a fine 22 years now. One thing I’ve noticed is the preponderance of LGBTQIA+ fans. I’ve been to meetups where we outweigh the straight people, however on the internet it’s a other story. The vertical fans seem to have a bigger voice regarding the series. I’ve seen flame wars
Yes, the vampire soap opera from the 60's is alive, and, good, the latest incarnation is on radio.
The last time Julie's expressive voice was part of spooky radio doings was a role in an episode of "CBS MYSTERY THEATER" in 1974.
Really scary stuff, kids. Julie even performed her part under somewhat eerie conditions...
Julie plays Julia Hoffman. On the authentic TV show, the belated Grayson Hall played the part of the scientist who sought out vampire Barnabas Collins and, favor Catwoman and Batman, developed an interesting love-hate bond.
According to the collinsporthistoricalsociety.com website, which obsesses on all things "Dark Shadows," the producers of the radio version often thought of reviving the iconic character. Co-producer Joseph Lidster noted that there were several script ideas for bringing back Julia, but the question was who could play the role:
"“Julie agreed to read the scripts and we think she fell in love with the character. Trying to sum up Julie Newmar is pretty much doomed. She’s an actress/sing
